“Bringing Joy and Love to Children during Christmas 2017” is an annual charity event held by the IACM. The event has collected more than MOP4,397,000.00 in donations since it was first held in 2004. To spread warmth to areas beyond Macao and help more children in need, the IACM collaborated with Orbis Macau, World Vision of Macau Association and Caritas Macau to raise funds for the sponsorship of ocular operations for impoverished children with ocular illnesses in the Mainland, to provide nutritious food for starving children in South Sudan, and to provide warm clothing for war-affected refugee children in Syria. The event was well received, with the total amount of donations collected reaching over MOP1,010,000.00, including 1,100 sponsored presents to local children and MOP790,000.00 in charity funds for the three co-organisers to help children in need in the different regions. The host thanked the general public and the various organisations for their enthusiastic support in this event, bringing warmth to children in need.
Furthermore, in coordination with the entities of the diamond level that have supported the “Bringing Joy and Love to Children during Christmas 2017”, the beneficiary organisations in Macao arranged for children to participate in 8 sessions of “Fun and Happiness with Care and Love” in January, which included DIY craft workshop, table manners learning workshop, children’s playground experience, themed breakfast, educational movie viewing, etc. The children participated enthusiastically and they felt relaxed and happy. The IACM hoped that through these educational and fun activities, the children would broaden their horizons and enrich their knowledge, feeling the care and love from the different sectors of the community.
